I'm no Scorsese follower by any means. I've of coursed watched his films and enjoyed all of them, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this is his best work yet. Yes, you heard me! Even Casino and Goodfellas take back seat to The Departed. Blasphemy you say? Well, I challenge you to see this film and disagree 100% with me. I can see the merits in saying that other Scorsese films were equal if not greater, but when it comes down to it, I don't really care - this film will definitely be one of those that goes into every man's DVD library to be watched over and over again.

I live for movies with a good plot and The Departed came through with one that will knock your socks off! What could be better than a good ol' fashioned mob movie with Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, Alec Baldwin, Anthony Anderson, and more in it?! I have seen plenty of movies with blockbuster casts that have completely sucked. However, this is not one of those. All of these guys deliver UNBELIEVABLE performances. DiCaprio is brilliant and I actually would have to say that Alec Baldwin really adds a lot to the movie - despite a small part.

For me, there is always a debate of whether I should see movies in the theatres or just wait. If you miss this in the theatres obviously you will have to see it when it comes out on DVD, but seeing this in the theatres definitely adds a nice punch.
